getting over a cold

It's the worst feeling to have - head full of liquids, so tight it feels like it really ought to burst, and it weighs double what it normally does, so my neck has trouble holding it up. When the head moves, it sloshes. Thinking is pretty much out of the question. I started to feel it on Wednesday, but it didn't really hit until that evening, when it blew in with hurricane force. Thursday was gone. Even when I tried to go in to work on Friday, my cold wouldn't let me stay, and I had to go back home to be miserable.

I had invites to a couple of holiday parties this weekend, but I didn't go. I hate to miss a party, but I seriously was NOT up to it, and I didn't think anyone wanted to share my cold with me either. My gift to them was to not leave my own house.

Now I'm starting to stir and act like a human again, but I'm not quite there yet. As it is, I probably will skip a couple of more parties unless I start to really feel like myself again. Of course, this cold has put me behind at work and at home, on projects that I'd planned on having done this week. It pisses me off to miss work (and especially parties), but even more pissed off to try to sleep with one nostril working (and not working all that well either, mind you). Being pissed off is a little indication to me that I'm feeling better, so I'm (kinda) happy for the anger.

There's really not much of a point here, I'm just venting, but you gotta take the good with the bad. At least I've not given you my cold.

Revenge of the Nerds

Not the movie, kiddies, this little item explains how the MPAA had to discontinue their malware because it violated the licensing terms of the code it used. As seen on Gizmodo and BoingBoing. And it's all because of the law that the MPAA helped into existence - the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). What wonderful foresight they had!
